South River was established in Stuart in 1981 and quickly grew into a condominium community consisting of 39 two-story residential buildings spread across 87 acres. The land stretches from the property entrance on South Kanner Highway to the South Fork of the St. Lucie River. Each building contains 14 residential units. There are one-bedroom and two-bedroom units, each with its own lanai. South River is unique in many ways, not the least of which is in the attention that is paid to landscaping and beautification. The builders took care to preserve much of the natural flora, and over time there have been many enhancements made to keep the environment lush and inviting. There are nine ponds which provide many of our residents with tranquil water views.
South River is gated, and for everyone’s safety, South River Drive has a speed limit of 13 mph. Many residents enjoy bicycling along the road, and many others can be seen power-walking or simply taking a stroll down to the dock to watch the sunsets.
The South River Property Manager is based in the Office, located near the entrance at 30 SW South River Drive. The Property Manager works with the POA and the Villages to ensure that vital community services remain available, that the rules are followed, and that residents’ requests for service are reviewed in a timely manner. South River is a 55+ community, and pets are not permitted.
